Figures from social media number crunchers Talkwalker posted by ET Canada show that 5.3 million mentions of the royal wedding were made on social media in a 24-hour period around the ceremony. 2.2 million of these were from the US, with the rest coming from elsewhere around the world.
A further breakdown of the stats revealed 244.9K mentions of Princess Diana, 142.2K mentions focused on Meghan's wedding dress, 59.2K mentions concerning Claire Waight Keller/Givenchy and 22.7K about hats or fascinators.
Royalty across the board was in attendance for today's celebrations, including the Hollywood variety like George Clooney and Idris Elba.
David Beckham clocked up 111,319 social media mentions, with Amal Clooney receiving 23,968, tennis legend Serena Williams 17,968, Victoria Beckham 17,964 and Elba with 14,722.
